LMT Announcements During the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Pandemic
Lower Macungie Township continues to monitor the constantly evolving COVID-19 and will update information on changes to township functions. We thank everyone for your patience. Stay safe!
Updated September 21, 2020 3:21p.m.
As you may know, the Township Offices were relocated to the Community Center after flooding from the tropical storm on August 4th. We are pleased to inform you that the Township Offices have moved back to the Township Building on Monday, September 21st. We will continue to practice social distancing and require that masks be worn at all of our public buildings for the safety of our employees and of our residents.
As of Monday, July 6th, Lower Macungie Community Center will be open to the general public while following CDC guidelines for the safety of our employees and of our residents. Social distancing measures are in place and it is necessary that visitors wear facemasks inside our building. The safety of our employees and visitors are important to us. Staff will be unable to assist those visitors not wearing masks.
We will be open Monday – Friday from 8:00am – 4:30pm. No public restrooms available. We will offer facility rentals, gym rentals and Tuesday morning “Walk & Talk” for adults from 8:00am – 10:00am. Access to the gym for “Walk & Talk” will be through the entrance of the new wing (left side of building).

Parks & Playgrounds
All parks are now open, please follow CDC distancing guidelines.
Walking trails are all open.
The pump park is open.
Public restrooms remain closed, except for Creamery Park, Wild Cherry Park, and the restrooms in the bottom of the barn at Camp Olympic Park which are currently open. The restrooms that are open will be cleaned on a regular basis, however, there will not be hand soap or paper towels available. Please plan on bringing proper personal sanitizers to the park with you.
The portable toilets in the parks have been placed by outside organizations using the sports fields and not by the township. Please refrain from using these facilities since the township does not pay for nor sanitize these facilities.
A limited number of trash cans will placed in the larger parks in strategic locations. We ask that all residents follow our carry in-carry out policy to help reduce the amount of waste that our limited staff has to collect.
Park equipment is not being sanitized so please exercise caution. Parents and/or individuals must look after themselves and follow social distancing guidelines when using these facilities.
Regular Trash and Recycling: Collection will continue as scheduled.
We are contracted to request one (1) bulk item per week. Bulk item examples would be love seat, flattened-bundled cardboard, armchair, mattress & boxspring set, etc. Please complete the form below.
If you have a bulk item to be picked up, please use the trash and recyling contact form to request a bulk item collection.
Curbside Yard Waste collection will start on April 6th and continue for a total of 12 weeks. See our Curbside Collection Calendar of scheduled weeks. September 21 - 25 is the last week of curbside collection.
HHW & Electronics Collections can be scheduled online at WMAtYourDoor.com or by calling them at 800-449-7587.
Events and Programs
All events and programs that were scheduled between March 16th and thru the end of June are cancelled. All events and programs that are rescheduled will be posted on lowermac.com and Facebook, and if time allows, in the Township's newsletter.
4/27/20: Lower Macungie Township’s pool will not open for the summer 2020 season. Due to major repairs needed on the pool, the COVID-19 restrictions on construction/repair businesses, as well as limitations and guidelines for pool operation, we will not be able to open for the season. Thank you for understanding this difficult decision that we were forced to make under these unusual circumstances. We wish you good health and a wonderful summer.
Playground Program Cancellation Notice
6/2/20: Unfortunately, Lower Macungie Township will not be offering the Summer Playground Program for the summer 2020 season. Our programing promotes hands on participation and activities that can’t be accomplished with social distancing measures. Due to the restrictions in place upon us by the State and the CDC, we are prohibited from offering this program to our residents in a safe (but still fun) way. We were hopeful that we would be able to offer the program in some way; however, the safety of our staff and our residents is our top priority. After reviewing the most recent updates yesterday, the decision has been made to cancel the program for 2020. Thank you for understanding this difficult decision that we were forced to make under these unusual circumstances. We wish everyone good health and a wonderful summer. We will miss seeing all the smiling faces this summer and hope that everyone is able to return in 2021!
