As of March 23rd, Lower Macungie Township has decided to close the Municipal Building to the general public for the safety of our employees and of our residents.
Lower Macungie Community Center is closed. All classes at Wescosville Recreation Center and Hills at Lockridge are also cancelled during this time. Class participants and renters will be contacted with further information. Staff will be available by phone Monday - Friday between 8am - 4:30pm at 610-966-6924. Further updates will be posted on Facebook and on this page.
Yard Waste Center
Open normal hours:
MAY 1st - MAY 31st M-W-F- 9AM - 7PM S & S Noon - 7PM
CLOSED EVERY TUESDAY & THURSDAY & ALL TOWNSHIP HOLIDAYS
Mulch loading service will continue. Mulch loading is available every Saturday in April and May from 7:30AM until 11:30AM and Thursday's only in April from 1PM to 3PM, while supplies last. There is a $20.00 fee per loader scoop. CASH ONLY, EXACT CHANGE REQUIRED. This program is available to Township residents only with a sticker and/or Permit. There can be no refuse drop off while compost is being loaded.
Permits (Residential and Commercial)
The Planning Department will continue to accept regular submissions, as required by law; however, a waiver of project extension until October 1st, 2020 is firmly requested. The April 14th Planning Commission meeting has been cancelled. All other future Planning Commission meetings shall remain regularly scheduled, any cancellations will be posted on the township website.
Real Estate Tax Office
The Tax Office is closed to the public. Please see the Tax Collector web page for payment and contact information.
Earned Income Tax
Berkheimer has determined that it would be in the best interest to extend the local filing due date to July 15, 2020, matching the State Federal requirement. For complete details, forms and e-file, please visit Berkheimer's website.
Utility Payments (Trash & Sewer)
We are unable to accept any bill payments in person at this time, but you have multiple options for making a payment:
- By mail: Lower Macungie Township, 3400 Brookside Road, Macungie, PA. NO CASH PLEASE.
- Drop Box: You may leave your payment in the drop box by the front door of the Township Offices at any time. NO CASH PLEASE.
- Online: The Easiest Way to Pay Your Utility Bill! Our online bill payment option saves you time and gives you more flexibility in how you pay your utility bill. If you have an internet connection and an e-mail address, you can now pay your utility bill online. It’s fast, it’s easy, and you no longer have to write a check each quarter or find a stamp when it’s time to send in your payment. See our Utility Billing web page on how it works and to sign up.
- Phone: Call the Township at 610-966-4343 and we can apply a payment from your checking account, credit card or debit card (American Express not accepted).
Parks & Playgrounds
Quarry Park and Church Lane Park have been closed.
All other parks are open; however, playground equipment has been roped off and basketball hoops have been removed. Park equipment is not being sanitized and the public is discouraged from using them.
Public restroom facilities are closed and porta-potties are being removed.
Trash cans are removed, so please carry-out what you carry-in.
We are not closing walking trails. Parents and/or individuals must look after themselves and follow social distancing guidelines. We understand that during this time, everyone also needs to exercise and be active to keep themselves mentally, emotionally and physically healthy.
Regular Trash and Recycling: Collection will continue as scheduled.
Bulk Items: Effective May 11, 2020, Waste Management’s bulk collection services will resume. As they resume bulk collection of one (1) item per week, residents’ collection times may be later than normal. Waste Management appreciates your patience, cooperation, and understanding during this difficult time. If you have a bulk item to be picked up, please use the trash and recyling contact form to request a bulk item collection.
Curbside Yard Waste collection will start on April 6th and continue for a total of 12 weeks. See our Curbside Collection Calendar of scheduled weeks.
HHW & Electronics Collections can be scheduled online at WMAtYourDoor.com or by calling them at 800-449-7587.
Events and Programs
All events and programs that were scheduled between March 16th and thru the end of June are cancelled. All events and programs that are rescheduled will be posted on lowermac.com and Facebook, and if time allows, in the Township's newsletter.
